Below, a key to the identification of the genera included in this new tribe is provided: Key to Monticolariini , trib. nov. genera 1. Posterior part of the lateral lobes of the pronotum inflated ( Fig. 11B )......................................... 2 – Posterior part of the lateral lobes of the pronotum not inflated ( Figs. 9C , 10A ).................................. 4 2. Mid tibiae without an enlarged apical spur. Posterior part of the lateral lobes of the pronotum moderately inflated; posterior margin of the last male tergite with lateral edges not prolonged.............................................. 3 – Mid tibiae with a markedly enlarged internal apical or subapical spur. Posterior part of the lateral lobes of the pronotum conspicuously inflated; posterior margin of the last male tergite with laterally angled prolongations that do not exceed the median length of the cerci................................................................... Atlasacris 3. Posterior margin of the last male tergite prolonged and slightly curved downward, not exceeding the median length of the cerci, covering most of the epiproct. Posterior margin of the lateral lobe of the pronotum obliquely curved forward. Last tooth on the posterior edge of the stridulatory file of the left tegmen hook-shaped, larger, and longer than the preceding ones. Hind wings reduced to minute scales...................................................... Arostratum – Posterior margin of the last male tergite almost straight, not prolonged, and does not cover the epiproct ( Figs. 11D, E ). Posterior margin of the lateral lobe of the pronotum curved downward ( Figs. 11A, B ). Last tooth on the posterior edge of the stridulatory file of the left tegmen normally developed and unmodified. Hind wings extending beyond the tegmina ( Figs. 11B, 11C )........................................................................ Massaium gen. nov. 4. Males with one or two modified internal apical spurs on the mid tibiae........................................ 5 – Males with unmodified internal apical spurs on the mid tibiae............................................... 6 5. Tegmina in both sexes extending beyond the first abdominal segment, covering half to two-thirds of the abdomen ( Fig. 9A ); laterally without whitish stripes ( Fig. 9C ), but with a black spot at the base of the tegmina ( Fig. 9D ). Mid tibiae with two internal apical spurs, the ventral one markedly enlarged and curved upward.......................... Monticolaria – Male tegmina not extending beyond the first abdominal segment ( Fig. 10A ), inflated and forming an acoustic chamber ( Figs. 10A, B ), laterally with whitish stripes between the costal and subcostal veins, and lacking black spots at the base. Mid tibiae with three internal apical spurs, the middle one markedly enlarged and curved upward..... Hempia gen. nov. 6. Eyes circular and pronotum rugose. Male terminalia strongly modified; last abdominal segment prolonged; subgenital plate deeply emarginate with pronounced distal lateral edges curved upward............................. Peropyrrhicia – Eyes ovoid and pronotum smooth. Male terminalia unmodified; last abdominal segment with a straight posterior margin; subgenital plate rectangular, posterior margin nearly straight...................................... Odonturoides

Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
