Key to Aniarellini trib. nov. subtribes and genera 1. Predominantly green coloration. Pronotum not subcylindrical; lateral lobes slightly longer than high; tympanal spiracle medium-sized, usually covered by the lateral lobes of the pronotum or only slightly visible under it. Fore tibiae unarmed dorsally. Femora unarmed ventrally, except in Pseudoburgilis , which has small spines along the ventral margin of the hind femur........................................................................................... 2 – Coloration in dark brown and greyish tones ( Figs. 23A, B ). Pronotum subcylindrical; lateral lobes much longer than high ( Fig. 23A ); tympanal spiracle conspicuous and projecting at the posterior corner of the pronotum ( Fig. 23A ). Fore tibiae densely armed with robust dorsal spines ( Fig. 23B ). Femora ventrally armed with spines ( Fig. 23A ) Tetanina subtr. nov. ............................................................................................ Tetana 2. Head robust; eyes generally ovoid and medium-sized ( Figs. 24A, D, F ). Antennae without distinctive coloration. Lateral margins of the pronotal disc outlined by a whitish cream line, usually accompanied by a reddish line Hyperophorina subtr. nov. ............................................................................................ 3 – Head slender; eyes rounded and conspicuous ( Figs. 25B, K ). Scape and pedicel entirely black, or at least with the ventral half black; first flagellomeres usually black (except in Pseudoburgilis , where only the flagellomeres are black). Lateral margins of the pronotal disc outlined in yellow or white, accompanied by a thinner black stripe, sometimes with two black stripes bordering the lighter band ( Figs. 25J, K ). Aniarellina subtrib. nov. .................................... 5 3. Lateral lobes of pronotum at most twice as long as high, commonly 1.5 times as longer than high. Tegmina with parallel anal and costal margins, lacking conspicuous or abrupt dilations. Hind wings projecting beyond the apex of the tegmina. Stridulatory mirror of moderate size................................................................... 4 – Lateral lobes of pronotum three times as longer than high ( Fig. 24A ). Tegmina strongly expanded basally; costal margin narrowing rapidly towards the apex; anal margin almost straight; in repose, tegmina appear obliquely curved upward at the distal third ( Fig. 24B ), and hind wings project near the point where curvature begins. Stridulatory mirror conspicuous and expanded................................................................................ Coryphoda 4. Hind wings clearly projecting beyond the apex of the resting tegmina ( Fig. 24D ). Lateral lobes of pronotum quadrangular, nearly as long as high ( Fig. 24D ). Male cerci unmodified, without distal branches. Ovipositor slender and almost straight, with strongly serrated margins ( Fig. 24E )......................................................... Burgilis – Hind wings moderately projecting beyond the apex of the tegmina ( Fig. 24F ). Lateral lobes of pronotum rectangular, wider than high ( Fig. 24G ). Male cerci with distal modifications, usually with a conspicuous inner notch and apical or lateral projections or expansions ( Fig. 24H ). Ovipositor moderately thickened, upward-curved, and margins typically finely serrated ( Fig. 24G )....................................................................... Hyperophora 5. Scape and pedicel black or at least with the ventral half black; flagellomeres entirely black or at least the first few segments. Lateral margins of the pronotum outlined by a yellowish or whitish band, accompanied by one or two black stripes. Hind femur unarmed ventrally. Hind wings extending beyond the apex of the tegmina. Tegmina consistently shaped, not noticeably narrowing at the apex; radial veins usually bifurcated; spurious vein absent. Hind wings translucent........ 6 – Scape and pedicel greenish, lacking black markings; flagellomeres black. Lateral margins of the pronotum outlined by a whitish band, without additional black stripes, but with a dark green stripe instead ( Fig. 25B ). Hind femur ventrally armed with medium-sized spines. Tegmina covering the hind wings, apex narrowing and pointed; radial veins disjoint, not bifurcated; spurious vein present between radial and cubital veins ( Fig. 25A ). Hind wings opaque and pinkish ( Fig. 25A )...................................................................................... Pseudoburgilis 6. Tegmina extending beyond the apex of the abdomen. Lateral margins of the pronotal disc well defined, never denticulate. Ovipositor upward-curved, not exceeding half the length of the hind femur, usually one-third its length.............. 7 – Tegmina shorter than the pronotum, scale-like, not reaching halfway along the second abdominal tergite ( Figs. 25C, D ). Lateral margins of the pronotal disc angular and well defined, denticulate in some species. Ovipositor rectangular in lateral view, nearly straight, about half or more the length of the hind femur ( Fig. 25F ).......................... Xenicola 7. Tegmina rectangular, extending beyond the apex of the hind femur ( Figs. 25G, H ). Posterior margin of the male subgenital plate straight or with a shallow notch ( Fig. 25I )................................................... Aniarella – Tegmina ovoid or lanceolate, not extending beyond the apex of the hind femur ( Figs. 25J, K ). Posterior margin of the male subgenital plate with a moderately deep and narrow notch, bearing well-defined styliform projections............... 8 8. Hind wings present and fully developed, slightly or even greatly longer than the tegmina......................... 9 – Hind wings absent or rudimentary, tegmina as long as the abdomen and acuminate....................... Euxenica 9. Pronotum with a well-defined humeral notch ( Fig. 26A ). Male cerci cylindrical, with a preapical notch and a slender inner branch at the apex, forming a pincer-like structure ( Fig. 26C )............................... Buzzettium gen. nov. – Pronotum lacking a distinct humeral notch ( Figs. 25J, K ). Male cerci tapering distally and curved at the tip, without modifications or accessory branches............................................................. Engonia

Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.

The rows audioBlast holds for this taxon, each matched to the same Catalogue of Life node. Where a source classifies it differently, its own classification is kept.
