Plazi
Description. Habitus as shown in Fig. 1 . Fastigium verticis conical, only slightly compressed laterally, shorter than scapus pointing forward, with fine longitudinal groove, lateral ocelli near middle, apex obtuse ( Figs 2A, 2B ). Eyes globular ( Figs 2A–C ). Frons subrugose, with very few faintly impressed dots ( Fig. 2C ). Maxillary palpi slender and elongated, with apical segment longest and apex rounded, subapical segment longer than third segment ( Fig. 2B ). Pronotum generally smooth with very fine short setae, disc broadly rounded into paranota, apical area transverse and faintly shouldered; transverse sulcus faint; anterior margin straight; posterior margin concave ( Fig. 2A ). Paranota longer than high, ventro-anterior angle with stout triangular lobe with obtuse apex, with ventral margin slightly sinuous, posterior margin mostly straight ( Fig. 2B ). Anterior part of mesopleura with conchate projection behind auditory spiracle ( Fig. 2B ). Prosternum without processes ( Fig. 4A ). Mesosternal and metasternal lobes angularly rounded, barely protruding ( Fig. 4A ). Both tympana on anterior tibia slightly swollen with narrow slit ( Fig. 2B ). Anterior coxa with triangular spinule on dorsal margin, spinule curved. Femora with the following number of spines on ventral margins: anterior femur 4–5 external, 3–4 internal, external spines larger than internal; middle femur 7 external, 0 internal; posterior femur 9–11 external, 0 internal. Knee lobes of anterior and middle femora obtuse externally and spinose internally; knee lobes of posterior femur bispinose on both sides, longer than those of anterior and middle femora. Tibiae with the following number of spines on ventral margins: anterior tibia 6 external, 6 internal; middle tibia 8–9 external, 0 internal. Male. Tegmen highly reduced; dorsal field about as long as wide; mirror area barely covered by pronotal disc, barely reaching first abdominal tergite, with apex truncated ( Figs 2A , 3A ). Hind wing rudimentary, concealed under tegmen. Mirror on left tegmen small, rhomboid, about 1.4 as wide as long ( Fig. 3A ). Stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen faintly curved, about 1.5 mm long; with about 189 teeth fairly regularly and densely spaced throughout ( Fig. 3B ). Tenth abdominal tergite at posterior prolonged behind, producing two posteromedian lobes, lobe tongue-shaped, margin between lobes narrowly and deeply emarginated with anterior end rounded ( Figs 4B, 4C, 4E ). Epiproct tongue-shaped with apex rounded, in dorsal view concealed under tenth abdominal tergite ( Figs 4B, 4C, 4E ). Cercus cylindrical, tapering and curved inwards towards apex; with baso-internal projection tubercle in shape with apex obtuse; apical third slightly flattened, blade-like with apex acute ( Figs 4B–F ). Subgenital plate with anterior half broad, posterior half with faintly converging lateral margins, apical margin somewhat truncated, emargination at middle short and triangular, margin slightly lobular lateral of emargination ( Fig. 4F ). Styli stout, with apex rounded ( Fig. 4F ). Titillators ( Figs 5A–D ) separate (central part subfused), slender, elongated, slightly curved and compressed; apical parts bent, connected by membranes with granular sclerotization, apical ends of arms diverging, broadly rounded with numerous small round lobules sometimes overlapping; basal and broadly diverging; with lateral sclerite lamellate and elongated. Female. Unknown. Colouration. Head dorsum testaceous brown with tint of peach-coloured (when alive), with fastigium verticis dark ( Fig. 2A ). Scapus and pedicel black; antennae pale, yellow brown with some segment black ( Figs 2A–C ). Frons wholly dark red brown, mandible black, clypeus and labrum dark red brown ( Fig. 2C ). Maxillary palpi with segments cream coloured, sometimes with tint of black ( Figs 2B, 2C ). Gena testaceous brown, margin around posterior of eye black ( Fig. 2B ). Pronotum testaceous brown; disc with anterior and posterior margins black, paranota with margin black interrupted with red brown ( Figs 2A, 2B ). Tegmen generally with veins cream coloured and cells black or dark brown ( Figs 2A, 2B , 3A ). Spine on anterior coxa orange. Legs generally dull testaceous brown with tint of peach-coloured, ventral spines with apex black; femora with posterior half, including black ( Fig. 1 ). Anterior and posterior tibiae black; middle tibia dark testaceous brown ( Figs 1 , 2A, 2B ). Tarsi generally pale coloured with black markings ( Fig. 1 ). Tergites testaceous brown, with longitudinal black stripe; sternites pale orange ( Fig. 1 ). Tenth abdominal tergite, epiproct, cercus, and subgenital plate generally yellow brown to orange brown ( Figs 4B–F ). Measurements. See Table 1 .
Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
The rows audioBlast holds for this taxon, each matched to the same Catalogue of Life node. Where a source classifies it differently, its own classification is kept.
