Plazi
Remarks.—Another large species of the genus with a body length about 32–35 mm and a wingspan of about 85–90 mm ( Boulard 2000 ; specimens in hand). The body size can distinguish it from all other Madagascar species of the genus with only O. martini n. comb. being larger. Boulard (2000) describes the species as a darker form of C. martini with a large white pruinose “half belt” on dorsal abdominal tergite 1. The infuscation on the radial and radiomedial crossveins is connected through the basal apical cell veins producing a zig-zag pattern in this species. The song begins as a series of short syllables followed by a short decrease in intensity prior to a period of rapidly produced longer syllables with peak energy about 6 kHz ( Boulard 2000 ; 2006b ). Distribution.—The species is known only from Madagascar ( Sanborn 2013 ). Material examined.—“ MADAGASCAR : Province de Toliary / 12 km W Marovato / 25 32’S , 45 11’E , 200m / 12.X.2001 / D.O. Burge #124 // Collected in degraded spiny forest / dominated by Euphorbia trees, / Opuntia stands, and sisal Agave / near a small village.. Males were / calling during the heat of the day.” one male and one female ( AFSC ) .
Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
The rows audioBlast holds for this taxon, each matched to the same Catalogue of Life node. Where a source classifies it differently, its own classification is kept.
