Ecology. The species is found on tree trunks, sometimes in crevices in the tree ( Fig. 5 ). Males sing at night ( Fig. 6 ). They were found to be abundant at Baslay, where males can be heard singing on nearly every other trees. Calling song ( 2♂ , 24.4°C and 25.0°C) ( Fig. 7 ). The calling song consists of echemes made up of 36±3 distinct syllables (31–44). The average echeme duration is 0.44± 0.03 s (0.38– 0.52 s ), average silent interval between consecutive echemes is 1.39± 0.33 s (0.97– 2.40 s ) and average echeme period is 1.82± 0.33 s (1.41– 2.79 s ). Within each echeme, the syllable increases in amplitude and plateaus at a maximum. The average syllable duration is 8.5±0.5 ms (7.9–9.6 ms), average silent interval between consecutive syllables is 3.7±0.3 ms (3.1–4.4 ms) and average syllable period is 12.2±0.4 ms (11.6–13.1 ms). The dominant frequency, which is also the fundamental frequency of the harmonic series, is 3.19±0.10 kHz (3.09–3.28 kHz). The second energy peak in the harmonic series is 6.14±0.26 kHz (5.16–6.28 kHz). At a higher temperature, the echeme duration (hence the number of syllables in each echeme) is longer and energy peaks in the frequency spectrum are higher, whereas the syllable duration is shorter.
