behaviour · bio.acousti.ca
The males produce snapping sounds audible from about 10m. To do this they lift one hind leg (sometimes both) and flick the tibia backards. In this way the apical spines of the hind tibia are struck against the fore wing. These tibial 'flick-sounds' are produced in an irregular series as the calling song, and also by both sexes, when disturbed, as a defensive sound.

Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
The rows audioBlast holds for this taxon, each matched to the same Catalogue of Life node. Where a source classifies it differently, its own classification is kept.
