description · Plazi

Description. Small to medium sized species. Head: Face robust but not particularly large; in frontal view ovoid; forehead nearly smooth; fastigium verticis wider than scapus; ocelli little distinct ( Fig. 93I ); Abdominal tergites two and three with stridulatory pegs. Fully winged; tegmen distinctly surpassing hind knees, hind wings markedly longer than tegmen ( Fig. 93H ). Tegmen: Radius releases RS before apical quarter of tegmen, R branches again near tip, RS remains single branched; media free from base but in basal half very close to or touching radius, unbranched but sending a short oblique connection vein to CuA1; cubitus anterior at base with a single branch that forks into two veins, the anterior branch makes a curvature and receives an oblique connection vein from MA and shortly after divides again into two parallel branches, MP and CuA1, while the posterior branch (CuA2) does not divide further; cubitus posterior undivided, free throughout; with 4 anal veins, last two with common stem, last anal vein incomplete. Legs: Fore coxa with a spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with small spines on both ventral margins, with 10–11 external and 8 internal spines on ventral margins, increasing in size towards posterior end; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins unarmed; with 3 apical spurs on both sides. Coloration. General color light to medium brown, vertex and a median band of pronotum black, on pronotum widening posteriorly and interrupted in posterior half by 2 narrow longitudinal light bands; area before and behind genicular area of hind legs also black but not genicular area itself; hind femur with 2 dark brown longitudinal bands. Face whitish brown with 6 black spots, of which 4 at antennal scrobae, 2 at clypeo-frontal suture; mandibles medium brown with dark rims. Tegmen brown transparent, veins little darker; hind wing transparent, veins brownish, projecting area infumate. Male. Eighth abdominal tergite prolonged. Ninth abdominal tergite collapsed in middle and somewhat deformed (collected freshly moulted); probably vaulted and more vertically oriented, rather elongate with converging margins and probably wide-shallowly grooved on both sides of midline; in apical third narrower, parallel-sided and gradually divided into two lobes with rounded and recurved apico-lateral angle terminating into a black hook curved dorso-proximad, tip subacute ( Figs. 93 K–M). Subgenital plate wider than long with convex lateral margins and slightly bilobate apical margin, about basal half of ventral surface bulging corresponding to a dorsal (=internal) groove; dorsal (=internal) side with a distinct rim especially along apico-lateral angles; styli inserted on top of that rim ( Fig. 93N ). Phallus hidden. Female unknown. Measurements ( 1 male ).—body w/wings: 19; body w/o wings: 16; pronotum: 3.5; tegmen: 15.5; tegmen width: 4.5; hind femur: 7.5; antenna: 90 mm .

Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
