Description of song: Chorthippus dichrous male calling song generally consists of a non-synchronized short phrase ( Fig. 13 B). The calling song durations vary between 350 and 750 ms, depending on the number of syllables. The numbers and structures of pulses in the syllables cannot observe clearly because of the unsynchronized movement of the both legs ( Stumpner & Helversen 1994; Fig. 13 C ). Published song data, used for comparison : Stumpner & Helversen 1994 ; Ragge & Reynolds 1998 ; Tishechkin & Bukhvalova 2009 .

Comparative notes . Our recordings of the calling song are similar to these from Europe and the South Urals. Ragge & Reynolds (1998) believe that distribution of this species in Central Asia needs to be confirmed by song studies. Our data indicate that this species actually occurs in this region.
