Remarks.— Karsch (1890) describes this species as a smaller version of Malagasia aperta . It is a tawny species marked with piceous but lacks the opercula of M. aperta . It is similar in size and markings to A. maculigena ( Signoret, 1860 ) but can be distinguished by the complete transverse fascia on the head, the median ocellus surrounded by piceous and the mesothorax lacking significant marking in A. maculigena . Body length about 16 mm , wingspan about 44 mm or 56 mm for males and females respectively ( Karsch 1890 ). Indigenous people use the species as a food source ( Randrianandrasana & Berenbaum 2015 ). The song is a series of repeating syllables ( Boulard 2008 ). Distribution.—The species is known only from Madagascar ( Metcalf 1963b ; Sanborn 2013 ). Jacobi (1917) reported the species from Tamatave, western Madagascar . Boulard (2008) reports the species from the surroundings of Ankofa, northeastern Madagascar . Counts are recordings at or below each taxon, so an empty branch shows as empty before you click it. A dash means the join view holds no column for that rank and cannot roll up to it.
